There are several signs to indicate that you need to replace your electric or gas-powered water heater. Depending on the hardness of the water and quality of the heater as well as the installation technique used, among other things, this can vary between 10 and 25 years from the date of manufacture of the water heater. Here are the main signs that you should replace your water heater:
- The manufacturer’s warranty is no longer valid and the water heater was manufactured more than 10 years ago.
- The water heater is leaking or dripping.
- There is rust on light-colored clothing washed in hot water in the washing machine.
- The white paint on the water heater is stained with rust.
- The water is a bit colder or there seems to be less hot water than there used to be.
- The water is less clear than before, which may be a sign of rusting in the tank.
If you think that your water heater needs to be changed, we suggest that you talk to a plumber or a sales consultant at your hardware store. He or she can help you decide whether your water heater really needs to be changed and recommend a new model that will suit your needs.
